To Trust Willingly.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

Whose trust is the Lord.

He is like a tree planted by water,

That sense out its roots by the stream,

And does not fear when heat comes,

For it’s leaves remain green,

And it is not anxious in the year of drought,

For it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

A question I have been pondering,

Okay maybe two questions,

Which I’m going to share with you are;

What does it mean to place all our confidence in the Lord?

How do we actually do that and not simply talk about doing it?

Over the past year or so,

I have been questioning why I do the things I do.

Why I say the things I say and why I believe what I believe.

For I simply don’t want to do all these things simply because that’s what I was raised to do,

Or feel I need to do in order to be seen, as a good follower of the Lord.

And I am humbled to come to realize that,

Because our heart is what matters.

Our motives in our actions, how we serve the Lord and how we live when others aren’t around,

Matters a lot more than us just doing it to please people or to even work for the Lord,

Without truly loving Him first.

So when I think about placing all my confidence in the Lord,

I realized how I don’t do that,

And honestly, I’m not sure even how to do that.

But I want too.

I want to live wholly dependent on Him,

I want to live fixing my eyes only on Him and be rooted in His Word,

So that just as that beautiful passage above mentioned,

When the heat comes, when the hardships comes,

I will remain firm in Him and continue to bloom in adversity.

I want to,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.

Be not wise in your own eyes;

Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.”

Proverbs 3:5-8

Although I don’t know how to do all this,

How to live trusting in Him with all my heart,

I think it begins with reading His Word,

Getting to know who He is apart from just what we are told who He is,

Spending time in prayer and seeking His face,

And allowing our identity to be rooted in Jesus Christ.

Coming to see that we are loved by the Almighty God

And by His grace can come to Him in all things,

And that He is for us, He will never leave us nor forsake us and cares for us.

I think trusting is coming to believe in His Word and His truths,

That He is faithful,

He is Creator of all things,

And He is good.

So here it goes,

I’m going to ask you those same questions back.

And why I’m doing that is because I believe that it will change us.

That by coming to understand why we need to place all our confidence in Him,

Will change who we are, why we do things, how we do things and how we see the God of all creation.

And I think it will be for the better, and it’ll breathe a newness of life in us.

May our Father, through His Holy Spirit give you a deeper understanding of His Word as you read it, bringing light on His Truths and revealing who He is to you in a simple, beautiful, profound way. May He make straight your paths and soften your heart, opening your eyes to see who He is and a heart to accept His Word as Truth, deepening your faith and stirring a passion in your heart to know Him and be known by Him, In Jesus name.

So here it goes,

What does it mean to place all our confidence, all our trust, all our heart in the Lord?

How do we live that out?

Have a wonderful day friend.

For we live by faith, not by sight.
