We are a generation of people who long to see things that will blow our minds. We live a lot by sight instead of by faith. We seek to see the things of God rather than God Himself. We seek manifestions of Him outside of us rather than within us.
I truly believe the most beautiful thing God can do is transform us from the inside out. For although He will reveal Himself in great ways through manifesting His presence, all the memories of that will become words if our hearts aren’t continually seeking Him and being transformed. For even with Elijiah God revealed Himself in a still small voice. Although Elijiah was seeking something bigger with his eyes-God spoke directly to hist heart.
“The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake but the Lord was not in the eathquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whiser. When Elijiah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face…” 1 Kings 19:11-13
For although we seek God to reveal Himself to us in great mighty ways; if He did so most of the time we are seeking Him to do it, we would miss what He had to say because we would be so overwhelmed by what we were seeing. For God speaks the most powerfully in the quietness of our hearts. When we humble ourselves and seek His face,
“My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face Lord, I will seek” Psalm 27:8
He will speak to us in the stillness of our hearts the most profound words we need to hear. For healing comes from the inside out, renewal of the mind from the inside out, and our hearts shine from the inside out. If God is not working within us, His presence will not be manifested through us. May we seek Him not only for what He can do but for who He is. For He is longing for lovers who seek Him intimitly. For those who are willing to spend time alone with Him and be transformed within His presence. Those are who desperate to seek His heart, to know Him and be known by Him. For we live by faith, not by sight. We live by our faith in Him and His words, not seeking signs or wonders by Him.
“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and seek Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4
May we begin to seek the Lord, dwelling in His presence in times alone with Him. And seeking Him on His terms not ours-seeking Him in His temple, which is within us, for we are His temple here on earth. He speaks in the quietness of our hearts, for He loves to commune with His children. He loves when His children come to Him and earnestly seek Him, not only seeking the things of Him. May we come before the Almighty God in holy fear, allowing Him to speak as He wills and reveal Himself as He desires, for He knows our hearts. He knows what our hearts need and when our hearts are ready to be entrusted with more. Just as Elijiah expected to see God in a mighty way, He revealed Himself in the midst of a gentle whisper and Elijiahs reaction was to cover His face in holy fear. For God is mighty and His words are powerful. If we are seeking to see with our eyes before hearing with our hearts from God, we will merely be filling our mind rather than deepening our hearts with love for God. For words speak to the heart while merley seeing with our eyes only fills our minds with empty images. Which if we are seeking manifestations of God, we will never be truly satisfied in day to day life. For we will be seeking to always see Him rather than live with Him in the midst of every moment. We are truly communing when we are walking with Him through our lives. Begin to seek Him in the secret place for He is calling you there-a place where He will begin to transform you from the inside out. Are you ready to silently wait on Him who loves you and desires you to know Him?
“My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.” Song of Solomon 2:10
Lord we seek you ! We draw near to you! All we want is to know you and be known by you.
