“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.” John 15:4
The coolness of the morning sent shivers up my spine as I stepped out of my old wooden cottage. The forest wrapping around me as I stepped off my porch and onto the dry dirt ground. The Sun’s rays slowly made their way through the ceiling of tree branches as I walked down the path towards the open field. I stepped out of the cool forest and into a bright field where row after row of grape vines grew. As I walked down row after row, the Sun beating down upon me, I heard His soft voice, “Just as your vineyard produces much because you tend it, it is watered, it is cared for and nurtured. You too must be cared for, nourished and connected to the source of life which is I. Only through growing roots in my life, can you produce a life of love, of joy, of gentleness and of truth. Remain in me as the vines remain to the root and you too will live a life filled with my love and true life.” A smile creased my face as I stopped to look at the vines full of life, full of lush grapes and as I looked I was able to see those grapes which had fallen off and had withered and realized that life only comes from that which is connected to the root, the very source of life itself.
When we read John 15 it brings clarity upon living a life rooted in Christ and if we are not living a life in the very source of eternal life itself;
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3
Then our lives will slowly be fading as we are not abiding in that which is the very essence of life itself. For God is not seeking perfect people, He is not seeking those who have it all together. Jesus came to redeem those who need a Saviour, He came to redeem all who were lost to bring them back to the very source of life.
“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:17
Jesus loves us, He loves all people. He loves you just as much as He loves me. And He see’s you as worthy of recieving His eternal life. He see’s you as worthy of inheriting all that He has and died for-a relationship with God, where we are able to stand before Him without judgment, for Jesus blood cleanses us of all wrong and allows us to stand right before God. God is seeking those who are willing to love Him, to seek Him for who He is-not just what He offers. He is looking for those who are willing to live their lives to fulfill their divine destiny. Just life grapes that are produced from the vine, they are not dry but full of life, vibrant and are life producing. For God can use us to do something amazing, all that is required from us is a simple act of obedience to do only what we can do and leave room for God to do what only He can do. Jesus can use us wherever we are and whatever we do, as long as we are willing to abide in Him as the source of life. For His ways are perfect, His ways are loving and His ways are to redeem, to bring forth life and light into peoples lives. For if a branch is not connected to the vine, it is lifeless. We are only filled with life when connected to the only source of life, Jesus Christ. For we all need a Saviour, and He is that whom we are longing for. He is the perfect King, the worthy lamb and the life producing vine our lives need to be abiding in to recieve life from.
It is not just the poverty striken countries that need nourishment, water and a better life-for they are rich in true life, faith in Jesus Christ. It is those who disguise their true need for life and the living water of Jesus Christ with money, wealth, careers and material things.
Jesus loves us so much that He does not leave us how He finds us. He longs to transform us and fill us with life and beauty. Just as grapes grow from a vine that is securley rooted in the root which brings forth life, if we remain rooted in the very source of life itself; Jesus Christ, we too will produce much fruitfulness from our lives
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23
All that the King desires is that we remain rooted in Him, in His love and allow His perfect life to flow through us so that we will bear His image and share in His eternal life with The Father. How beautiful is that? That throug accepting Jesus in our hearts, we are able to partake in His life, here and now? That we recieve eternal life and are able to live within the Kingdom of Heaven here and now?
Be so blessed today and may Jesus continue to reveal Himself to you in new ways. May you not just know about Him but may He reveal Himself to you so that you may know Him from the depth of your heart. Jesus you are King, you are the source of life. May we learn to abide in you-allowing you to flow through us your living water and source of life so we may live full of your Spirit. You are eternal life itself, thank you for the life you so freely give us.
