fulfillment of promises

As the sun began to rose I saw the beams breaking through the window beams and into my room. “another day..another beautiful day” I think as I rise out of my bed.  I begin to get ready for the day, and as thought by thought begin to cluttered my mind with what if’s, what I should be doing, what I haven’t yet done…what will I do in the days to come. soon the beauty of the day has dissipated as my thoughts are consumed by everything I have allowed to weigh me down. quickly I am reminded of one of our favourite verses

“I say this because I know what I am planning for you” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future” Jeremiah 29:11

ahh now I can finally breathe. Yes the Lord has plans for me, He has my future all planned out. I can let my worries slip away and entrust in Him that He will give me hope and a great, good future and that nothing bad will happen because I trust Him…I hope that future is filled with lots of blessings and what I want it to be filled with…

I laugh as I continue to read coming to a realization..

“then you will call my name, you will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you, you will search for me and when you search for me with all your heart you will find me! ” Jeremiah 29:11-13

so often we tend to read the verses that encourage us and uplift us, so often we become fixd on those verses that we miss the whole point of it all. we miss God as we go to find self healing passages that we can turn to when confused or worried.  If we look at the rest of that passage we can see that the Lord longs for us to seek Him, He desires us to search for Him with ALL of our hearts- He wants to be what our hearts long for, He wants us to be overflowing with love for Him-for who is He. For the Lord does have beautiful promises for us, He longs for us to be happy, to be joyful – to most importantly be servants of Him. Men and Women who place Him first and foremost.  He desires us to seek the plans He has for us, to earnestly pray and hear His voice for guidance and reassurance. That although He has amazing plans for those who follow Him, it is up to us-our choices, the ability we give the Lord to work through us, the amount we enable His Holy Spirit to speak to us, over-all our obedience to Him in which reveals to us those beautiful plans. For when we begin to read only verses about His great promises to us, we soon forget that a relationship is both ways, and He asks much from us as well to recieve such promises. He has given us gifts:the gift of life, the gift of His Holy Spirit, the gift of grace which again doesn’t cover our sins but is meant to pull us out of sin, and most of all the gift of Jesus Christ who died for us so we could have His Fullness of Life. Yet we become fixed on recieving rather than doing and miss building a relationship with the Lord.

“serving God does make us very rich, if we are satified with what we have, we brought nothing into the world, so we can take nothing out” 1 Timothy 6:6-7

the Lord desires us to be rich with everything He has given us already, to  realize we have Jesus-the living water continually pouring into us. That He is faithful and true to who He is- For it isn’t simply about praying for a good future full of hope and riches, but to realize He has already given us those promises to stand on, and now we are to pray to seek the fullness of those promises. to realize we are rich in the Lord because He is our source of life and from Him comes all we truly need. For it isn’t about praying what has already been given to us-but praying for what we do not see yet. 59320920061894442_BW1pjOXe_c

for when we search for things, we are searching for what we do not have yet.  Jesus is the source of life- the one who step by step will direct us and draw us our map-but rarely will He draw out the whole map before us, He desires us to depend on Him each step of the way to bring us to recieving His promises-to be with Him, to come into a oneness with himself.

take time to read Romans 8:18-30

may we come to accept that the Lord has amazing plans ahead of us, but to not just seek for things to fill our life with goodness. May we not try to see that the Lord will come to meet our needs and wants but to see that Jesus desires us to live a life will with love for God and His riches.

Be blessed-in the promises given by Jesus Christ
