`But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.` Galations 5:22-23
When we are following Christ, we will begin to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We will begin to bear the fruit of His labour through us and as we grow closer to the Lord we`ll continually be reaped and sown, creating a harvest of righteousness and holiness.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.” John 15:5-6
However if we walk away from Him, we`ll begin to wither as we are disconnecting ourselves from the source of life and everything we need to be spiritually alive and fruitful. `Jesus wants spiritual fruits not spiritual nuts`
At one point in my life when I was struggling I was praying for self-control and faithfulness and so clearly God said `the only way to bear your fruit is to constantly need to use it. if my branch is always full, eventually the fruit will turn bad, grow rotten and by itself fall off. but if the fruit is continually being harvested and picked, the tree will need to continue bearing the fruit and never ceasing to grow it`
When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, We recieve His Holy Spirit, and through that when letting Him live through us, we`ll begin to bear the fruit of His labour, evidently showing the work of Christ in our lives. That being said, we don`t need to pray for the fruit of the Spirit as we already have the ability to grow it, we need to begin choosing to use that fruit, to choose to be self-controlled in situations when being tempted, or choose to be joyful even when it`s hard. That`s the only way to bear more fruit-we need to constantly be letting Christ enable the fullness of His power through us by using what He has already given us. We shouldn`t be asking for more when He`s already handed us everything we need.We nee to believe in and have the faith to accept that what we pray for, we have been given-use it
`If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer`Matthew 21:22
Also may you be aware of those that claim to be followers of Christ but do not bear His fruit, for many will come in His name but not show the fruit of His labour. And that shows the importance in knowing His Word and obeying that above the commands of man.
`“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?` Matthew 7:15-16
May you always be reminded of the Lord`s promises, and continue to let Christ live the fulness of His life through you. What fruit are you bearing? He is the only wear to bear good, ripe fruit, He is the only source we should be growing from.
Do you need to root back into Christ?
`Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.` Ephesians 1:3
