easter weekend

written by Katie Nicolle

as a young woman still coming to know God, I find it hard putting God first before my own needs. I struggle spending time reading the Bible when I’d rather be outside soaking up the sun or working on my photography. How selfish right? Christ chooses to love me each day, he doesn’t have to. Yesterday on Good friday, he put his life down and died on the cross and suffered so much torture and ridicule so that we could live and still be saved despite all of our sins. How can someone love us this much and yet we can’t make time to spend with him? Everyday I pray that I find that intimate love for him, just as much as he loves me…and loves everyone. As I continue to seek him, I find that now I want to learn more about my saviour and everything he has done. I know it won’t be easy, changing parts of my lifestyle and spending time reading his word more often, but he deserves all my praise and love. I’m letting go of my past and moving forward with my eyes on him. I pray that each day you find time to spend with God, and just acknowledge what he has done for you and will continue to do when you seek him more and more. Don’t let this weekend just be about getting chocolate and all those goodies, but take time and think about the biggest sacrifice ever- Jesus’ death and resurrection.

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins”. I John 4:9-10
